Our History

Drawing of Tommy O's building

About 30 years ago, Tommy Owens had a vision: to bring the essence of Hawaiian culture and cuisine to the mainland. He founded Tommy O’s, creating a place that offered not just food, but an experience straight from the islands.

Fast forward to 2010, and in walks Ozzie, starting off as a humble dishwasher. Through sheer grit and passion, Ozzie worked his way up—from prepping food to becoming a line cook, and then diving into sushi. His dedication and talent eventually earned him the position of kitchen manager.

By 2020, Ozzie was not just a key player but was running the catering side of the business and handling most kitchen operations. When Tommy decided to retire, he saw something special in Ozzie and offered his business over.

Now, Ozzie is at the helm, steering Tommy O’s into new waters. He's expanded the brand, opening new locations such as Little Kahunas. And that's not all—Ozzie is also part owner of Frontier Public House and Fronterras, making his mark in the culinary world.

Ozzie believes his journey—from dishwasher to restaurant owner—was guided by God’s plan. He feels profoundly blessed and grateful for the opportunities and success that have come his way, and he's dedicated to sharing that blessing with his family and community.
